Jasmine Star – Exposed Magazine

I LOVE Jasmine Star! Daniel doesn’t understand what all the hype is about her and why I love her so much. I guess it’s a photographer thing because he doesn’t get it. She’s wonderful and has helpful tips on her blog for photographers. She does all kinds of speaking engagements directed to helping other photographers accomplish their dreams. I took her 3 month ReSTARt class and it was very neat to see how she helped three photographers grow their business and define their brand, all within three months.

She has a magazine published talking about her life journey and how she started photography. It’s inspiring to read how fast she went from 3 weddings to 38 weddings all within one year! I’ve read this magazine a few times and have things highlighted all over the place. When I need inspiration I read the highlighted parts real fast. It’s a wonderful read! I highly recommend it.

Here’s a little excerpt about the magazine from Jasmine Star’s blog:
“Detailing the first two years of my business–everything from learning to shoot manually and posing tips, to being betrayed by allies and accused of copying someone else’s work–I reveal a personal side to becoming a photographer and following my dreams.”

For more information go to Jasmine Star’s website: http://www.jasminestarblog.com/store/?page=magazine

New Favorites

My three new favorite things!

Luxe Frames

I love the new shape frames and they come in so many different sizes, shapes and colors. These frames are handmade and solid wood. You can either hang them on the wall or display them on a tabletop.

Accordion Albums

This is my favorite type of album! I love how small it is but it still holds a ton of pictures. It has a cute frosted case and it has a magnetic closure, my favorite! The inside page folds out into one long page with pictures on the front and back. I want to do a stylized photo shoot of Allie sometime soon and make one of these albums with all of her pictures in it.

Albums

There are so many options for albums. This one has both fabric and a photo cover. I love to sew right on my scrapbook pages so I LOVE the stitching that goes down the front cover! The only album that I recommend are the ones that lay flat when you open them. So pretty!

NAVY BLUE

365 Day Photo Project: Navy Blue

Only 5 more projects left to go. Scary to think that’s how many months are left for this year. This project definitely makes me see colors everywhere!

August 4, 2013 - 9:08 pm

sarah - pretty! love a grouping of photographs with such unity.

August 6, 2013 - 2:49 pm

Sabrena Robinson - Beautiful photos! So, you’re doing one photo per month for the entire year? That sounds VERY doable. Who are you doing the 365 project with? I’d love to do it next year, or finish out this year.

August 6, 2013 - 2:59 pm

Studio Inspired - Sabrena – Each month has a new color that you focus on and it’s a year project.

What’s in my bag?

Here’s a look at what I have in my camera bag. This is all the equipment that I take with me when I shoot a wedding. Plus a whole lot more extra batteries and battery chargers, but you get the idea.

This is my favorite! Lightware Compact Flash Media Wallet. It holds all of my memory cards. When the card is full I just turn it so the back is showing and then I know that I can’t use it. It comes in other fun colors too. Below is a picture of my amazing camera suitcase. The Lowepro Pro Roller x200 . This suitcase saved my camera and all my lenses! I had the unpleasant opportunity to watch this suitcase be tested in action with all my equipment inside when we were flying to a destination wedding. We had to board an airplane that was small and they wouldn’t let me carry it on so it went below the plane. From my window I saw them THROW it and then DROP it 6 feet and SLAM it onto another suitcase and then SLAM another suitcase on top of mine. I was screaming (somewhat quietly) from inside the plane. Thankfully everything was in one piece:) It truly does protect your equipment… it’s amazing!

Have you ever seen Dave Carroll’s “United Breaks Guitars” on YouTube? You need to watch it… so funny! When he’s looking out the window in horror, yeah that was how I looked!  Anyway, it’s a good laugh:)

I also have studio lights and a tripod that I bring “just in case” and a small reflector too (forgot to add that in the picture). This was actually kind of fun, I got to be organized and have things labeled! Hope you enjoyed and found this helpful!

Leon Bailey - Lasting Blueprint Productions - Nice setup. I think I might have to get a camera for a second shooter later down the road. I never really thought about that. :-/

August 5, 2013 - 2:47 am

liesbeth parlevliet - fresco fotografie - This is very informative! I love the photo with all the stuff spread out! And that looks like a good roller bag… I’m looking for a good one and I’m definitely going to check if this specific type is available over here (I’m in the Netherlands).

August 6, 2013 - 2:48 pm

Sabrena Robinson - I love my lowepro bookbag! They aren’t the cutest bags but they definitely get the job done! Mine has kept my cameras, lenses and laptop safe soooo many days!
